Tuscany is full of extraordinary places: historic villas, medieval castles, vineyard estates, and a venue is much more than a beautiful backdrop. It shapes the atmosphere, the guest experience, the rhythm of the day, and every design decision that follows.

As destination wedding planners based in Florence, we always tell our couples the same thing: don’t choose a venue because it’s famous. Choose it because it reflects your story and the kind of celebration you want to create.

Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of planning weddings throughout Tuscany. Some venues have become places we continue to cherish over time, not because they’re the most well-known, but because they have something harder to define: a distinct character that makes every celebration feel unique.

Rather than creating a definitive list of the “best” wedding venues in Tuscany, we want to share five places we particularly love, each offering something completely different.

For Timeless Elegance, Villa Cetinale

There are Tuscan villas, and then there is Villa Cetinale. Few venues feel as effortlessly elegant.
Set in the hills outside Siena, it is surrounded by extraordinary gardens: sculpted hedges, stone statues, and a dramatic cypress-lined avenue.

One of our favourite projects here was a milestone birthday celebration. A palette of deep fuchsia and burgundy, custom-illustrated menu cards, brass candelabras, and a cake table scattered with rose petals and one candle for every year celebrated.

Bold and completely personal, Villa Cetinale held it all without effort.

For an Iconic Tuscan Ceremony: Vitaleta & Locanda in Tuscany

Few images evoke Tuscany quite like the Vitaleta Chapel, a tiny travertine chapel nestled among the rolling hills of the Val d’Orcia. For couples dreaming of an intimate ceremony in the Tuscan countryside, this setting is unmatched.
A reception at Locanda in Tuscany, a restored stone farmhouse set against the same landscape, becomes a natural continuation of the experience.

For T&J’s wedding, the ceremony was all deep crimson: dahlias, roses, dark foliage contrasting with the chapel’s white stone.
The reception at the Locanda shifted the mood entirely: an all-white table in the courtyard, candles, string lights, the Val d’Orcia hills at golden hour.

For Wine Lovers: Vignamaggio

If vineyards are part of your vision, Vignamaggio offers something entirely its own. A historic wine estate surrounded by Chianti vines and centuries of winemaking history, it allows couples to embrace the slower rhythm of the countryside without sacrificing elegance.

We’ve brought some of our most creative work here: an editorial shoot we created and directed, with a bold and colorful approach to design.
For the ceremony, sculptural floral installations on a contemporary stage. For the reception in the limonaia, a hand-painted tablecloth as the starting point for the entire table design: botanical ceramic plates, mixed colored glassware, fruit scattered across the linen.

The result was somewhere between a wedding celebration and a fashion editorial, unexpected and vibrant.

For a Full Wedding Weekend: Borgo Stomennano

Borgo Stomennano is a medieval estate just outside Siena, and arriving here feels like discovering a quieter, more authentic side of Tuscany. For couples who want their guests to truly experience the rhythm of Italian life, it offers the perfect setting for a multi-day destination wedding.

S&B’s celebration was exactly that: a complete wedding weekend unfolding over several days.
A welcome dinner in the garden and, for the wedding day, a ceremony framed by pastel florals and a candlelit reception under string lights.

The following day, the rain tried to crash the pool party, but it couldn’t stop the celebration. Guests danced anyway.

For a Fairytale Castle Wedding: Castello di Celsa

For those dreaming of a castle wedding in Tuscany, Castello di Celsa feels cinematic without even trying. A medieval castle with ivy-covered stone walls, Italian gardens, and panoramic views over the Tuscan hills. It brings together history, architecture, and landscape in a single setting.

For L&J’s celebration, we designed around the character of the castle, letting the setting speak. The ceremony on the garden terrace, with Tuscany’s landscape stretching out below. The reception, a sinuous table on the lawn at the foot of the castle walls, all white and clean lines with calla lilies in single stems.

Against the backdrop of ivy-covered stone and centuries of history, the setting itself did the rest.
